Alexandra Darnley-Stuart (Alex) completed her initial dance training in Canberra, performing for National Capital Dancers. A highlight was the lead role in Coppelia. Alex furthered her training and performance experience in America at The Boston Ballet School, Tulsa Ballet Centre, and The Tulsa Ballet, having been awarded the 2004 Australian American Scholarship and full tuition scholarship to The Tulsa Ballet Centre for Dance Education. Alex performed Corp de Ballet roles in Romeo and Juliet with The Boston Ballet and in The Nutcracker with The Tulsa Ballet. A highlight of Alex’s career in Australia included the lead role in choreographer Jane Porani’s eloquently re-mastered contemporary version of the famous ballet Giselle, in Townsville in 2011.
Alex was honoured to have her role choreographed specifically for her.
Alexandra Darnley-Stuart has been studying the mechanics of the human body as it moves, dances, and grows since 2005 when she endured a dance related injury causing her to take a break from dance and commence her studies in Physiotherapy. Alexandra graduated with honours in 2011, delivering a study on Forming a Wholistic Framework for Developing and Sustaining Healthy Dancers. Alex was later awarded the Physiotherapy Research Foundation prize for her research conducted with the Australian Ballet. With a special interest in foot and ankle injuries in the dance arena, Alex is committed to supporting dancers to make it back to the dance floor for a long and successful life of movement, health and well-being.

As an avid advocate for preventative care and management, Alex, also is passionate about providing live performance opportunities for her students, and for the wider community to enjoy. She strongly believes that live productions of dance, theatre, music, and drama are powerful cultural experiences for all ages, and bring joy and confidence, as well as have positive impacts on mental health and overall health and well-being.
'A Midsummer Switch' showcased Allegra students alongside local stand ins in a story of mischief and enchantment, with fairies, elves and magical forest animals spilling into the nearby township on stage. The graduating fairies create magic mix ups and confusion with the owl, cheetahs, bumblebees and mortal folk. An innovative adaption of A Midsummer Night's Dream, written by Alexandra Darnley-Stuart for Allegra Studios, featuring Renee Clare, Beryl Collins and Mackinnley Bowden.
'Connected' took us through a journey of rainbow emotions. With guest appearances from Martin Kay (pictured above) leading our first ever Hip Hop group, Narelle Schirmer and Holly Robertson leading the choir, Oorisha Grooves providing live djembe African drumming, and Fiona Dobson on electric violin. With a cast of over 150 very dedicated dancers, this show was an epic journey through greed, happiness, betrayal and finally love. All you need is love! "Connected" was a Community inspired event written and produced by Alexandra Darnley-Stuart and Ellen Farlow, featuring Renee Clare and Beryl Collins.
'A Carnival of Dreams' revealed a captivating story of a young ballerina who falls into a deep sleep as she enters a dream which leads her into a land full of magic and dance, with ringmasters, clowns, animals and zany characters. As the circus goes wild and the animals are let free the ballerina's dream deepens into a new life of barbies and boogie nights. As the dream begins to end she is suddenly woken by a dazzling jazz sequence wondering if she is still dreaming? Or if it was all real from the beginning? A Carnival of Dreams was an inspired production written and produced by Alexandra Darnley-Stuart, featuring Renee Clare and Beryl Collins.
